The role

We are looking for a talented and collaborative HR Generalist to join our team at our company headquarters in Chertsey. In this role, you will undertake ownership of operational HR issues for the full scope of the generalist HR function for 250 employees, across our three sites in the UK.

This is a broad, hands-on role, delivering a breadth of HR support from administration through to supporting senior line managers with policy advice and case management. Working under the direction of the HR Director, this role will be crucial in representing HR as a credible, visible partner.


  • Delivering the full range of HR services
  • On-boarding new starters
  • Updating and maintaining the HR records
  • Completing administration tasks accurately, with support from the Payroll Coordinator
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of our HR policies, systems and practices
  • Project work, including introduction of a HRIS system, LIMS system, and revision of policies and processes
  • Advising Line Managers and employees on policies, procedures and legislation as appropriate
  • Supporting Line Managers on employee relations, disciplinary and grievance procedures and performance management
  • Supporting reward and recognition processes
  • Supporting and coordinating learning and development needs
  • Supporting new employee engagement initiatives
  • Supporting the HR Director with UK-wide HR communications

Knowledge, skills, abilities:


  • Previous HR experience
  • Experience in providing support and policy advice to line managers
  • Experience of using HR Information Systems including inputting / maintaining data and reporting
  • Working knowledge of relevant HR policies, procedures and employment law
  • A hands-on approach and comfortable operating with limited guidance
  • A collaborative approach and strong ability to build credible relationships
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills to support multiple audiences
  • Strong attention to detail and a structured and logical approach
  • Committed to providing excellent customer service
  • Discrete and treat information confidentially
  • Flexible to travel within the UK when required to our sites in Uxbridge and Glasgow


  • Experience of implementing HR Information Systems
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and limited centralised policies and processes
  • Enjoy working within a small, fun team environment
  • Resilient and willing to ‘muck in’ when required

Education and experience:

  • Fully or partly CIPD qualified or working towards a nationally recognised professional HR qualification
  • Minimum 2 years working as a HR Officer 
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent desirable
  • Excellent use of Microsoft Office
