As we build on our success and expand our solutions portfolio, we are seeking a passionate product leader to join our senior management team, leading our product and software engineering divisions. The Product Director will help to create, engineer and steer our next generation of technology, while enriching our current offerings and product roadmap.

You’ll join our CEO and Operating Board, collaborating closely with colleagues within the senior leadership team, to build an effective and efficient business to ensure delivery of our company goals and mission.

Role responsibilities 

 

  • LEAD, CHALLENGE, DEVELOP, MOTIVATE and MENTOR our entire product division to success, working with, through and by your leaders and team members.

  • Manage all aspects of product delivery for all of the company’s UK product set; WinPath, LabCentre, PathManager, Cyberlab, Samplenet.

  • Own and ensure delivery of high quality, robust and reliable software, suitable for operation in enterprise and clinical environments.

  • Use industry best practice for software product management, including the ongoing development of product road maps for all products, which meet both the strategic market requirements and the short-term project needs.

  • Enrich and navigate our development, engineering, architecture and capability with technical and strategic expertise in software engineering, cloud and AI.

  • Ensure consistent and timely delivery of the product set releases and prioritisation of product enhancement requests, in line with the overall business plan.

  • Present the product and technical strategy and product road maps through regular internal and external meetings.

  • Provide high level technical support to the Director of Engineering and the development team, helping to assess the commercial implications of all major technology decisions.

  • Ensure that product and technical risk is understood and managed effectively.

  • Integrate the product lifecycle process into all other business processes, delivering strong working relationships with sales, delivery and support.

  • Work with direct reports to produce commercially compelling business cases for each major phase of development.

  • Nuture and develop your team’s capability, engagement and productivity, by ensuring a great working environment.

  • Act as senior company representative for customer ‘problem’ meetings, where resolution to customer projects is required, whether that is product, delivery or service focused.

  • Support the sales teams by demonstrating how to strengthen customer relationships, through effectively representing CliniSys’ products.

  • Wider support of our brand as an active and visible company leader, by engaging with our clientele and supporting colleagues at key events. For example, our user group meetings, industry events, customer meetings, meetups, blogs, press and social / digital content.

  • Assisting in the selection and contractual review and negotiations for new and existing 3rd party product contracts.

  • Collaborate with the rest of the CliniSys management team to exceed the growth expectations laid out in the strategic plan.

Person Profile

  • Proven expertise as a senior product manager / software director

  • Successful track record in leading product creation and delivery, utilising best practise software and cloud engineering teams     

  • Exceptional leadership skills with an inspiring gravitas and flair for motivating and managing that naturally command respects, engages and inspires colleagues, peers, clients and suppliers.

 

Primary Skills Required

  • Strong management of all product functions, with a strong understanding of Product Lifecycle Management and the interaction between software product development, complex product implementation and support services.

  • Extensive experience of all aspects of project management, including risk management as well as modern software project methodologies, such as Agile.

  • Good understanding of the latest and older technologies, software development processes, testing and quality assurance.

  • Experience of deploying products through a variety of different models, and identifying the implication of these models on the product architecture.

  • Experience of evolving products onto new architectures, whilst maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction on the older version.

  • Strong financial and commercial management experience drawn from operating in a competitive commercial environment.

  • Experience of contractual review and a general understanding of contractual terms.

  • Strong customer focus, able to balance the commercial needs of the business with the essential requirement for long term, consistently high levels of customer satisfaction.

  • Able to balance the constraints of a smaller company with the ability to drive the implementation of improved processes.

 

Technical Skills

  • Proven technical expertise in driving multi technology software development teams, utilising best of breed software, database, cloud and / or AI technologies.

  • Solid understanding of development and architecture management best practice, to create high quality output within budget and agreed timescales.

  • Personally technically adept in design, architecture engineering and development, utilising software to create hybrid on premise, off premise and cloud offerings.

 

Soft Skills

  • Flexible in approach to business operations and able to work within a dynamic and deadline driven culture, handling the resultant pressures.

  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and pressures to ensure the best possible outcome for the business.
